| Matthew was one of the 12 Apostles. The name Matthew means, "gift of the Lord". Matthew, also known as Levi, was a tax collector who left his work to follow Jesus (Matthew 9:9-13). It is believed that he authored the Gospel of Matthew found in the New Testament of the Bible. | Jesus Christ ...the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. |
John was one of the 12 Apostles. He was considered, "the disciple whom Jesus loved". (John 13:23; 19:26; 20:2; 21:7,20,24). He was the son of Zebedee, first cousin of Jesus, and a fisherman. He is believed to have written the Gospel of John, the 3 epistles/letters of John and Revelation. |
