THE MIGHTY & THE MYSTERIOUS

led by Pastor French every Sunday at 9:15 a.m.

Join us in the fellowship hall (room F202) for this video Bible study on the Book of Colossians. New Christians in first-century Colossae were not all that different from Christians today. They, too, struggled to understand who Jesus is, how Jesus alone reconciles us to God, and why things aren't perfect in the Church. In St. Paul's letter to these Christians he had never met, he doesn't say they should stop asking hard questions. He doesn't tell them to stop searching God's Word, to stop seeking spiritual wisdom, or to stop striving for unity within the Church. Instead, Paul focuses off of their questions and struggles on the Gospel of the mighty and mysterious God: the same God who created the universe revealed Himself among us and reclaimed us as His own through His Son, Jesus.

ABOVE ALL ELSE

led by Pastor Heckert every Sunday at 9:15 a.m.

This class (roughly 12 weeks) is for visitors desiring to become new members and for those who are already members but wishing to review the fundamentals. The book Above All Else: What the Bible Teaches will cover the major doctrinal topics in Christian theology that offer a complete introduction to the Lutheran faith. Topics include: God, Human Beings, Jesus: Who He Is, Jesus: What He Has Done, The Holy Spirit, The Bible, Baptism, The Lord’s Supper, The Church, Ministry, Resurrection and Eternal Life, and Christian Living. Join us in the church conference room.

IN ALL THINGS - COLOSSIANS

led by Grace Gillespie every Sunday at 9:15 a.m.

This class is hybrid: in person (room P206 - 5th Grade classroom on the west side of the cafeteria) and via Zoom. Each lesson is self-contained. You can access it from your home, your car, our classroom, or wherever you are. We picked Colossians to coordinate with the verse that all of the school kids are learning and can even sing! The St. James School theme is "In All Things." For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 3:16-17

Find out about:
  • How Jesus's work on our behalf gives us purpose and worth.
  • What the name "Christian" means.
  • How God's love enables us to respond in love to others, even those who have harmed or hurt us.
