Hip, Hip, Hooray for the 100th Day of School!  Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, January 16 for the second quarter.

Congratulations to the second graders for filling the class reward marble jar.  We will enjoy a movie, snack, and drink on Thursday, January 18.

Dates for your Calendar:
Monday, January 15:
  NO SCHOOL; Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Wednesday, January 17:  Science Fair for students in grades 2, 4, 6, 8.   Second graders may set up their science fair project boards, etc. in the cafeteria on Tuesday, January 16 from 3:00-3:45 P.M. or Wednesday, January 17 from 7:30-7:55 A.M..  Students will speak with two judges about their project on Wednesday, January 17 during the school day.  The Science Fair Night and Awards Ceremony will be Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 P.M.  There will be NO HOT LUNCH on Wednesday, January 17 due to the Science Fair.  Please send a cold lunch with your child to school.

Friday, January 19:  100th Day of School
Students need to bring:

  • A collection of 100 things (Second graders have to have the ability to carry the 100 things to school.)
  • 100 pieces of a snack food in a bag for our 100th Day of School snack mix (chocolate chips, marshmallows, pretzels, cereal, etc.).  Please be aware that we have a student in our classroom with a milk allergy.

January 22-26:  Lutheran Schools Week

Please remember to check the home binder, ClassDojo chart, and sign the student planner nightly.  Please don't hesitate to email, call, or stop in the classroom if you have any questions. 

Topics for the Week:
Memory: Students will have a fill-in-the-blank memory quiz on Wednesday and Friday.

Spelling:  The second graders will have a post-test on Tuesday from the week of January 8 spelling words.  The spelling words for this week are words with the final syllable le:  ankle, title, apple, cable, purple, able, bugle, bundle, bubble, giggle, sparkle, tickle.  The challenge words are:  crashed, splashing, traveled.
There will be no other new spelling words for the week of January 15. I will shift all other spelling words back one week. For example, the spelling words for the week of January 22 will be:
