Have a Happy Thanksgiving as you thank the Lord for the blessings He has given to you! Enjoy the Thanksgiving Break with your family. I am thankful for all of the second graders and their families!
November Chapel Offerings: We are collecting the following suggested items for the St. James Food Pantry for Chapel offerings during the month of November: canned corn, peas, green beans, soup, and bars of soap. We have set three goals in second grade to collect 100 items, 150 items, and 200 items for the food pantry. Please prayerfully consider your gifts for the food pantry during the month of November. Current Total: 171 items

Dates for your November Calendar:
Tuesday, November 21: The first and second graders will be having a Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 21 at 1:30 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall. Parents are welcome to attend. Second graders will be preparing turkeys (cookies) and trail mix for the feast. I will be using funds from PTL for our class for this event.
Friday, December 1: The Kindergarten-3rd Grade Christmas Service is Friday, December 1 at 6:00 P.M. The second graders' group parts need to be recited to me by Wednesday, November 22.

Spelling: The second graders will have one spelling test on Wednesday. All spelling words are bonus words and will only help the second graders spelling grade, not hurt their grade. The bonus week spelling words are Thanksgiving words: Thanksgiving, turkey, feast, Mayflower, Pilgrims, Native Americans, football, blessings, stuffing, cornucopia.

Handwriting: Break from Handwriting book until after Christmas
Math: Chapter 4 2-Digit Addition ***Helpful vocabulary tip as we begin 2-digit addition followed by subtraction: "carrying" and "borrowing" is called "regrouping" in second grade math.***
