History comes to life at St. James School!

The Social Studies Fair at St. James has been designed and developed to encourage understanding our community and world through research/activities on social studies topics such as “My Community” in the lower grades to complex research topics in the upper grades such as “Ancient Egypt.”

Students in grade 1,3,5,and 7 are required to participate in the program, however, students in all grades are encourage to be a part of this wonderful experience. The culminating activity is the Social Studies Fair held in the Spring.  At this event, students and their family members participate in an open forum in which students display and talk about their work.  Many students dress in period costume for the event and often provide gourmet dishes from the social studies region they may represent.

Examples of past projects that have been created over the years:

  • Ancient Egypt
  • The Greater Lafayette Community
  • Games from Around the World
  • All About the United States
  • Historical Markers That Should Exist
