New Sunday Morning Education Program
L.I.F.E. Sessions Program
Reason for Change
In an effort to create an environment where the children of our congregation can gain a more hands on and interactive experience of learning God’s Love, Christ’s Sacrifice and the work of the Spirit in our lives – as found in Scripture, we move from a single classroom base of education to rotating within a variety of different stations highlighting different skills all within the same theme and guideline.
Each week students from First Grade through Fifth Grade will participate in a large group opening and then break off into smaller groups to participate in activities that will reinforce the Gospel message learned in the opening.
Opening
Every Sunday, the children will gather together as a large group. Students will sit in designated seats according to the Grade Level they are attending in school. An adult guide will be there to facilitate participation, take attendance and take care of any needs.
Each week, openings will begin with a word of prayer. Children will also participate in singing songs that echo the theme for the day or encourage participation. The Biblical/Faith Lesson will be presented during the Openings through Narration, Drama, Audio/Visual Technology or other means to facilitate understanding of the concepts being presented. After the Lesson Presentation, the Opening Leader will facilitate a brief Question and Answer Session to reinforce what was just communicated.
Announcements, Awards and other means of communication can be presented during the Openings. Openings are targeted to last no more than twenty minutes. During the fifth Sunday of the month, we will highlight and celebrate Baptismal Birthdays.
Craft Station
To reinforce the Biblical Lesson/Principle taught in the Openings, children will have the opportunity to revisit what was learned through various forms of arts and crafts.
Group Building Station
We can learn a lot about how to interact with one another as the Body of Christ through God’s Word. At this station, children will be able to learn through games, group builders and activities fundamental concepts of cooperative play, problem-solving skills and teamwork.
Music Station
Music is a time-old teaching tool. Not only does it reinforce basic concepts and lessons, but it creates a sense of community. Through music, the children will be able to internalize the Lesson/Story taught in Opening.
Bible Trivia Station
Learning various concepts are fun and effective when done in a game setting. Every 5th Sunday the children will have the opportunity to participate in Trivia Games as a means to review the Biblical Lessons and Stories that were addressed in the previous quarter.
Snack/Activity Station
Food plays an important role in our community building. Food can also provide a fun reinforcement to themes presented on Sunday mornings. During this session, children will be able to snack on some memorable treats.
During this time, we would also like to carry through the message communicated during the Openings. While the children are eating their snacks, they will have the opportunity to participate in fun memory activities that reinforce the Bible Lesson/Story.
Stewardship Station (Every 5th Sunday)
Christian Stewardship is an important aspect of our daily lives. Teaching this concept at all age levels is an important step in our maturity as God’s Children. At this station, children will be able to learn and participate in Service activities that will benefit others.
Science/Technology Station (Every 5th Sunday)
With each generation come major advancements in Science and Technology. We have an amazing resource that can assist in reinforcing the time honored concepts found in Scripture. Children will have the opportunity to explore technology and astounding Science discoveries that echo what was taught during the Opening.
