Church Grounds Spring Cleanup

It’s spring! And that means we get to gather for gardening! All ages are welcome to come help “spruce up” our church and school grounds on Saturday, May 17 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. We will have breakfast ready for you in the cafeteria from 8:00 to 8:30. We will have prayer and assign jobs at 8:15. Since we will have various jobs to do, come dressed for the weather to dig, weed, plant, etc.! It’s always a fun time of fellowship! Many hands means much gets done, so come join us! Have questions? See Lynn Keiser or email properties@stjameslaf.org.

May Is National Stroke Awareness Month

A stroke occurs every 40 seconds and yet up to 80% of strokes can be prevented. This is why St. James is hosting Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings, on Friday, May 23 in the Concordia Cafeteria. Screenings are fast, painless, and affordable. Three key tests check for blocked carotid arteries, an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation, and high blood pressure, which are the three leading risk factors for stroke. Other tests check for abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women. Many events also offer blood tests, including cholesterol, glucose and c-reactive protein screenings, as well as take-home colon cancer early detection tests. For more information regarding the screenings or to schedule an appointment, call 1-844-591-7160 or go to https://www.llsa.social/hsca. Pre-registration is required.

Quilters

Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 26, we will not be meeting. Please join us next month on June 23!  If making quilts sounds like a fun activity (which it is!), but you have never made a quilt before, there is no problem. If you can tie a knot, you can make a quilt! We meet from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Holy Family Hall on the 4th Monday of each month. Come and check us out! Also, we are in need of full, queen, or king size sheets (twin size is too small) and batting for making quilts. Donations would be greatly appreciated!

All Welcome

You are all invited to Ron & Grace Gillespie’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Open House on Saturday, June 14 from 1-4 p.m. in the Holy Family Hall!

Altar Flowers

Sponsoring the flowers that are placed on the altar is a beautiful way to thank God for the special blessings of birthdays, anniversaries, and personal remembrances. If you would like to grace the sanctuary in this manner, you can SIGN UP HERE.

Vacation Bible School 2025

The time has come to register for VBS! This year's theme is True North (think Alaskan wilderness), where we'll get to explore how we can trust Jesus in a wild world!

This year, it will be even wilder and different as our friends from Grace Lutheran Church will be teaming up with us June 9-13 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. Grace recently broke ground and has begun demolition in preparation for their new facilities! We will still have the same fun, enjoy time with friends, and experience Jesus' love in our wild world in a very real way! We hope you and some other friends can join us! REGISTER TODAY.

We are excited to help you get connected!
